Unlocking Radiant Skin: What is the SaltFacial Treatment?

My SaltFacial Experience

Happy Wednesday, everyone! We’re back with another skincare treatment, and this one is my favorite. Back in March, I spoke with my esthetician, Carolyn at TalaMed, about a treatment plan for my upcoming wedding in June. We originally planned to do 3 PRP facials, one each month leading up to June. However, when May arrived, I was stressed out from school finals, graduation, and the wedding. This led to me breaking out quite badly, which only added to my stress as our wedding day approached. When I came in for my last PRP facial, we decided to switch things up and try a SaltFacial instead.

My esthetician suggested this treatment because it was excellent for exfoliating the skin and targeting acne. After my first SaltFacial treatment, I was hooked! We ended up doing a second treatment 10 days before the wedding! So, what exactly is a SaltFacial?

The SaltFacial Skin Renewal Therapy Treatment relies on a three-step process that incorporates natural sea salt exfoliation, ultrasound technology, and LED light therapy. This helps to refresh, revitalize, and enhance the skin’s radiance, both on the face and body. Suitable for all skin types and tones, it’s a year-round option. Here are the typical steps involved in the SaltFacial treatment:

restore //

The treatment begins with the restore step, where pure, sea salt crystals are used to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, dirt, and impurities from the surface of the skin.

Carolyn started off with a specialized pressure-flow machine to deliver the natural sea salt to my skin. The strength or intensity of the handheld device can typically be adjusted to the specific needs and comfort level of the individual undergoing the treatment. This step helps remove dead skin cells, dirt, oil, and impurities from the skin’s surface as well as stimulate circulation in the skin.

This is personally my favorite step! The salt against your skin feels amazing and like it’s actually exfoliating. Carolyn really focused on my breakout areas, and if I felt like the intensity was a little too much, she adjusted the pressure.

replenish //

After the exfoliation step, the replenish phase begins. In this step, Carolyn applied a topical formulation rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and other nourishing ingredients to my skin.

These products can be tailored to your specific skincare needs, whether it’s hydration, anti-aging, brightening, or other concerns. Then, ultrasound technology is used to enhance the absorption of the nourishing topical products. This can help improve the penetration of these products into the deeper layers of the skin, maximizing their effectiveness.

I felt a cooling sensation when the device was applied to my skin – it was actually very relaxing and felt great!

rejuvenate //

The final step in The SaltFacial Treatment is the rejuvenate phase, which involves LED light therapy. Different wavelengths of LED light can be used to target specific skin issues, such as acne, redness, or fine lines.

LED light therapy can help stimulate collagen production, reduce inflammation, and promote healing within the skin. This step doesn’t hurt at all, and I think it is what really helped penetrate my skin to help clear my breakout! I was under the LED light for 20 minutes.

Final thoughts //

After the treatment, my skin felt smoother, more radiant, and had a healthier complexion! I noticed my breakouts were flatter and less red by the next day. I absolutely love getting SaltFacials and highly recommend at least going in once to try it yourself! The exfoliation that occurs during the first step is unmatched :).
